Alain Gonda accounted for 20 points in eighth-seeded Phillipsburg's 63-60 victory over ninth-seeded Dickinson in Phillipsburg in the first round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 Tournament.
Phillipsburg (18-8) carried a 27-18 advantage over Dickinson (17-10) into the midway point.
Richard Manigault (15), Alex Kollias (10) and Bryce Feddeman (10) all had double figures in the win.
Jacqual Gertrude led the way for Dickinson with 22 points while Beyon Wilson and Jason Garcia pitched in with 16 and 10 points, respectively.
Phillipsburg will visit top-seeded Elizabeth, No. 7 in the NJ.com Top 20, in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday.
